Recipe: Brownie Christmas Trees
Now that school's officially out for the holidays, we've got a family favourite for you for this week's Christmas Bake.
This one is fun to get the kids involved with, and brings out everyone's creativity. Plus you can make life easy by using store bought brownie (if things are a little hectic before the big day!).
Brownie Christmas Trees
250g butter
½ cup cocoa
1 ½ cups sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
Royal icing
Smarties
Pretzels
Sprinkles
Sugar Stars
Chocolate fingers
Preheat your oven to 180°c, and line a brownie pan with baking paper.
Melt butter, then mix in cocoa and sugar. Add eggs and mix well, then add vanilla. Sift in flour and baking powder and mix until just combined. Pour into your tin.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until brownie springs back when tapped. Once completely cool, cut your brownie into isosceles triangles.
Then it's time to get creative! For a Christmas tree style, pipe squiggles of green icing, add sprinkles and a star on top, and use a chocolate finger for the trunk. For reindeer, use Smarties as eyes and noses, and pretzels for ears. Have fun!
